DIY Lazy Susan

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Philippians 4:6

I have this one in my kitchen and it’s a great reminder every morning “pray more worry less” start my day with praise and worship not anxiety and worry. Talking to God every morning helps me to start my day in a great way!

Supplies:

-Blank circular piece of wood about 15 in. diameter

(we cut our own out of 3/4" sanded piece of plywood)

-wood stain (shown is Minwax brand in Dark Walnut)

-lint free rag for staining

-lazy susan turntable (I purchased mine from Home Depot for about $5)

-rubber grips for bottom of turntable (optional)

-drill

- 4 - 5/8 in. construction screws

-liquid clear sealant

-pen or pencil

-chalk

-acrylic paint (I used white)

-very thin or skinny pointed tip paintbrush

Instructions-

1. Start by staining your blank piece of wood, allow to completely dry (a couple of hours at least)

2. Once stained piece is dry, write out your saying or word(s) on the wood round with the chalk- this makes it easy to see and also wipes away. It doesn't need to be dark this is just a guide for when your painting the letters, you may skip this step if you're awesome at free hand script.

3. Go over the letters with your acrylic paint. I did several coats to get the white to stand out and smooth even lettering.

4. Once the lettering is dry flip over and place lazy Susan turn table in the middle of the bottom side of circle

5. I mark the 4 holes with a pen or pencil where the screws will be placed

6. Move the turn table and slightly drill where the few marks are just enough so you've got a start to place the screws

7. Replace the turntable and now screw the 4 screws all the way in

8. Place your rubber stoppers on the 4 corners of turn table, these are optional but I highly recommend if you have a slick counter top.

9. Paint on clear sealant on the top and sides to protect your lazy Susan

10. Allow to dry and your finished!

*Styling tip* Lazy Susans are most commonly used in kitchens but also look great and are highly functional on a coffee table or on a bathroom counter. I hope you enjoy for many years to come!

Please message me with any questions.

Thanks so much and God bless!
